The Journey of Dreams, Friendship, and Opening Doors

I saw a video of a interview by Bill Mayers of Joseph Campbell last night. He wrapped the interview saying follow your bliss. Just then I texted my friend Maungo Jr from Zambia.
I had helped him with his dream of starting his photography business


I was In a bad place. I was giving up on my dream of Recreating Lives and Community. But Maungo Jr wouldn’t let me forget my dream. You see he was part of that dream to help others reach theirs.
I talked to him about how we first met online 6 or so years ago. He was as I said a goofy young man who had a passion to be a photographer .


We would be separated until 2020
He went thru some personal issues and became quiet. Somehow we connected again. I was surprised he remembered him.


He told me he went thru some deaths of people close to him. I reminded him of why I conncted to him. I wouldn’t let him forget his dream of being a professional photographer


I had him help me put together some videos. He had just lost a job as a videographer for a nonprofit. They lost their funding.


In Zambia money is not easy to come by . He worked long hours doing boring work. He had little time for himself . But he was able to save some money for his dream to buy photography equipment to start his business.


For his health he left that job to work for a nonprofit where he said he learned a lot . He was expecting $1000 when he finished his 6month commitment . He ordered some photography equipment expecting his payout.


He texted me that he received a letter from his boss that due to government law he could only pay him half of what he was promised.


He was disappointed, he said he was going to spend that money to become a Uber driver and buy a car. I wouldn’t let him forget his dream . So I said If he could find half of that 500 I would pay the rest.


Happily he did what he could to recover 200.00 and I sent him 300.00. Today he paid for his equipment moved back to his hometown where he is is ready to set up his buissness .


So as Joseph Campell said in the video when you follow your Bliss unknown doors will magically open for you


Maungo reminded me of my purpose of helping people recreate their lives a community . Yesterday I helped opened a door for Him, today he opened one for me.


Follow your Bliss and whatever you need will follow .
